To follow her heart and do the work she loves, Susan Mullins broke away
from the world of mortgage banking where she had pursued a career after
earning a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. “Going through some trials
and tribulations during that time convinced me this just wasn’t the
right path for me,” says Susan. “I knew I wanted to do more to help
people one-on-one.” The Clearwater native went back to school and earned
a master’s in mental health & rehabilitation counseling, and has
been practicing since 1991.
She has worked extensively with eating disorders, addiction issues,
and trauma issues. In the end, though, it is all about “helping
individuals rediscover their authentic self that can be so easily lost
in everyday life,” Susan says.
Susan found growing up on the coast of Florida that water activities, such
as sailing, scuba diving and beaching, sustained her spiritually. These
days, she still sails quite often and crews regularly on a J-27. And even
though she is not living as close to the gulf now, she did find a peaceful
setting for her home – she lives on the Hillsborough River with her
fiancé and two kitties.
