Being taken by a dishonest insurance agent made Linda Bullerman’s
mission in life very clear: to educate and inform people about
insurance, investing, and how to provide a stream of income for
themselves they cannot outlive. Linda was newly divorced in 1986
when she moved from Indiana to Florida, back when it was trendy to
buy life insurance as an investment. She had a little money to
invest, which fell into the hands of an unethical agent. She
fought it where, she says, Florida’s Department of Insurance
“became my best friend.” She got her money back after a year. She
also learned much about the world of insurance, which she now
loves to pass on to her clients.
As
an independent insurance agent (this means she works for you, not
the insurance company), with a special interest in health
insurance, she frequently sees people paying too much – that is,
more than they need – for health insurance. “You buy insurance now
a la carte,” says Linda. “Each person is different and you may not
need all the options in every plan. You target your insurance
coverage to your needs, concerns and budget.”
When developing an overall plan for your money management, Linda
first concentrates on retirement income because “we don’t have
pensions any more – you’ve got to provide it yourself.” She
doesn’t advise going into the investment arena until your
retirement income is safe, which means you have planned for a
stream of income in your retirement years that you cannot outlive.
Linda loves to travel and get away with short excursions such as
cruises and outings to Las Vegas. At her home in Largo she enjoys
fishing, playing golf, and her two mini pins and an African Grey
parrot.
